University Of Toronto Mauritian Society

The Club

U.T.M.S. stands for the University of Toronto Mauritian Society. The club has been created by the students for the students. Although the club was originally formed by students of Mauritian descent, its members are not limited to that. The objective is to familiarize our members (especially frosh) to the campus life, Canadian culture and folklore. The main activities of the club are social in nature, like movie nights, sports activities, skiing trips, skating, only to name a few. These provide ample opportunities to meet new friends.

The club activities are organized by the committee members. The executives are elected each year by the members and have a mandate of one academic year (September to August). They are responsible for the general operations of the club. If you wish to sit on the ebody, watch out for the next elections. This usually happens at the end of the school year (late April or early May). If you want a better idea of what the duties of a committee member are, check out the UTMS constitution.

At present, we are affiliated with the Mauritian Association at York [University] (MAAY) and Club M Toronto.
